THOMAS MEMORIAL- Surrealism is a cultural movement that developed in Europe in the aftermath of World War I in which artists depicted unnerving, illogical scenes and developed techniques to allow the unconscious mind to express itself.

THOMAS MEMORIAL -This week's art style theme is - Dadaism. Dadaism was a movement with explicitly political overtones – a reaction to the senseless slaughter of the trenches of WWI. It essentially declared war against war, countering the absurdity of the establishment's descent into chaos with its own kind of nonsense.

THOMAS MEMORIAL- This week's art style theme is De Stijl - De Stijl was a circle of Dutch abstract artists who promoted a style of art based on a strict geometry of horizontals and verticals. Originally a publication, De Stijl was foundedin 1917 by two pioneers of abstract art, Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg.De Stijl means style in Dutch.

THOMAS MEMORIAL- This week's art style theme is Futurism. Futurism was an Italian art movement of the early twentieth century that aimed to capture in art the dynamism and energy of the modern world.

THOMAS MEMORIAL -This week's art style theme is - Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image. Georges Seurat and Paul Signac developed the technique in 1886 branching from Impressionism.

THOMAS MEMORIAL- This week's art style theme is Mixed media. Mixed media is a term used to describe artworks composed from a combination of different media or materials

THOMAS MEMORIAL- This week's art style theme is Fauvism. Fauvism is a style of painting the flourished in France around the turnof the 20th century.

THOMAS MEMORIAL- This week's art style theme is Bauhaus. Bauhaus is a movement championed a geometric, abstract style featuring little sentiment or emotion and no historical nods, and its aesthetic continues to influence architects, designers and artistsnonrepresentational means.
